Last October 17, I had the opportunity to explore Sydney with my husband when I went to renew my passport at the Philippine Consulate (my choice was either Sydney or Canberra so we chose Sydney since there are more flights to and from Melbourne). I am known to be a budget traveler but with convenience at play too so we had to plan around cheap, comfortable and convenient but not sleazy.
We planned the trip around hotels which are near to the train station and Philippine Consulate and we found one – Sydney Hotel CBD in Liverpool St. It was convenient since we only had to walk 3 blocks to get to the hotel from Museum Station and it’s also 2 stations away to Circular Quay. We just took the train from the airport to Museum Station, and one thing I never fail to pick up? Map of the area. I don’t care if everyone else thinks it’s touristy π

We left our luggage at reception and went to the Phil Consulate to report our marriage to the Philippines and renew my passport at the same time. Thankfully, it only took us 3 hours to do everything – mostly it was from waiting to be called.
Finally free from all the ‘adult’ responsibilities, we set out to look for where we can have a late lunch – and we found BBQ City – A Korean BBQ Restaurant 2 blocks away from our hotel. The first thing I blurted out when they served? ‘Holy crap, that’s A LOT of side dishes!’ But we were sure happy to try everything π

That Monday – 17th October was rainy but we still wanted to explore… got lost and found (drum roll, please)…… CHINATOWN!!

Yes, the pic is blurry because I had to snap a picture in a rush, otherwise we’ll get drenched.
Second day was spent exploring Circular Quay. It was warm, awesome and fun! We took the ferry (as suggested by Mum and Dad) to Manly. We had good views of the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House from the ferry to Manly β€

We walked to The Boathouse in Shelly Beach (as suggested by one customer, for a company I work for, who lives in the area). We had a wonderful breakfast with equally wonderful coffee!

Shelley Beach was very tempting to go swimming on a hot day…

Then we checked out that Noodle Market in Hyde Park and found a Pinoy BBQ stall

Our third day was spent exploring The Rocks and walking across Harbour Bridge..

Oh, and we get free meal voucher at the hotel and that’s when we did brunch π

Yes, we both love food π
Our last day was spent on brunch at the Quay (yes, with Mojitos)…

…and a quick trip to Watsons Bay

before heading to the airport…
It was fun 4 days but I can’t wait to go back and explore another destination – The Blue Mountains π and perhaps go back to Manly Beach or Shelly Beach. Nah, I didn’t want Bondi Beach – too crowded π
