When I Go Hangry! Home-cooking Edition

I cook these when I feel inspired in the kitchen. I have hubby as the prep chef 😛

Ginataang Alimasag. I cook these crabs with coconut milk, lemongrass, capsicum, onion, ginger and garlic.

Escabeche and Fried Eggplant. Escabeche is made by frying fish first. Then making a vinegar based sauce with onion, tomato, garlic, capsicum, ginger. You have a choice of pouring it on top of the fried fish or cooking the fried fish further with the vinegar sauce. What I do is after frying the fish, I bring the vinegar sauce to a boil, put the fried fish and cook it in further for 5 mins.

Pork and Veggie Stirfy. I used peanut butter as the sauce base, added a bit of mirin and soy and pepper.

Beef Sopas. I use minced beef and pretty much vegetables that I like. In this soup, I used cabbage and carrots.

Asparagus wrapped in bacon and puff pasty. Used a store-bought pasty because I’m lazy.

Apple and Pear Slaw with triple grain rice and grilled pork.

Grilled pork belly with triple grain rice and grilled asparagus wrapped in bacon. This was my new years table 🙂

Bam-I. This is my favourite version of pancit (filipino stirfry noodles). We used 2 kinds of noodles.

Roast Lechon Belly. We roast it in the oven but with spices used in lechon. We sometimes grill it on a rotisserie over charcoal.

Pork Nilaga. We cook it with tomato, onion, pepper and salt. Boil until pork is tender and then top it with bokchoy.

Grain-free Brazilian cheese bread. We got the recipe from Danielle Walker (look her up and her recipes, it’s awesome!)

Bulalo. Beef cooked for hours to soften the meat. You just add salt and ginger and bokchoy once meat is done.

Hoki Fillets with Tomyum paste, mixed veggies and triple grain rice.
